'Nama Siapa Hebat' naming contest launched

New Proton compact car confirmed for 2014 – ‘Nama Siapa Hebat’ naming contest launched

proton nama siapa hebat-2
A new Proton compact car will debut in the first half of 2014. Not to be confused with the upcoming C-segment Preve Hatchback, the new compact model, known in some circles as the Global Small Car, will be a smaller hatch. Expect a B-segment five-door hatchback, the final result of the Proton EMAS Concept shown at Geneva 2010, although it’s not likely to retain the Giugiaro proposal’s looks in full.
We know this because Proton launched a naming contest for the upcoming small car this afternoon at its haze shrouded COE. Called Nama Siapa Hebat (Whose name is better?), the contest invites Malaysians to contribute to the naming process of the new compact car.
The contest begins today, goes on for a month and will end on July 25. The Grand Prize winner will walk away with the Premium variant of the car he or she helped named, so there’s plenty of motivation to try your luck. The second prize is a holiday package to Langkawi plus cash, and there are other gadget prizes to be won.
“We are the national automotive car company, so it is only right this is shared together with the rest of the country and all Malaysians. It is only right that the Malaysian public share our pride and play a significant part in naming the new Proton car,” said Tan Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil, executive chairman of Proton.

“This new compact car is extremely stylish and is targeted to those from all walks of life who love an active lifestyle, from the young to the old, to even those wishing to upgrade from a smaller vehicle,” the DRB-Hicom boss added. The last part of his statement is a hint that the new Proton compact will be bigger than Perodua’s kei-car sized Kancil and Kelisa, the smallest compacts on the road.
All Malaysians from the age of 12 are eligible to participate. Proposed names for the new car must be in Bahasa Malaysia and contain no more than six letters. The name can be a combination of alphabets and numbers (ABC123), but cannot be all numeric (123). Also, the name must not have any association with the animal kingdom, so don’t think along the lines of Kancil, Kelisa and Rusa! Of course, your entry must be supported with a rationale.
One can submit as many entries as possible, either via snail mail (contest forms are available at Proton service centres) or online at namasiapahebat.proton.com. Full terms and conditions can be found on the contest website.

Recently, a reader spotted a mysterious “giant Savvy” on test – could it be a test mule wearing Savvy skin as decoy?

Proton confident of selling more with new models

Proton confident of selling more with new models

SHAH ALAM, Aug 25 — National carmaker, Proton Holdings Bhd, believes the Proton Waja’s replacement model and the facelift model to be launched in December will boost proton car sales this year.
Managing Director Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir said the facelift model will be introduced at the Kuala Lumpur International Car Exhibition 2010 in early December.
“The new models will make a change in higher sales this year,” he told reporters after launching a safety and health campaign on the road and workplace here today.
Syed Zainal Abidin said the soft launch for the new models will be held after Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays.
“We’ve done trial production, plant and road testing,” he said.
Asked on the facelift model, Syed Zainal Abidin declined to name the model.
“Facelift, let it be a suspense, but I can tell you it’s one of our popular cars and from what I’ve seen, facelift gives a much better look to the current range of proton models,” he said.
He said Proton has set an ambitious target to sell 170,000 proton cars in the 2010-2011 financial year.
“So far we’re on track and we hope the two new models will give a lot more momentum for us as we always offer competitive prices for proton models,” he said.
Proton posted RM104.647 million higher pre-tax profit for the first quarter of the financial year ended June 30, 2010 from RM64.379 million in the same quarter last year.
The encouraging financial earnings stemmed from higher sales and profit margin from production of better quality cars, he said.
Syed Zainal Abidin also said Proton was talking to five banks to provide better financing packages for customers, vendors and distributors.
“We’re working out special packages for tenure of payment and interest rates,” he said.
Proton intends to offer flexible options and low interest rates vis-a-vis 4.1 per cent and 4.2 per cent currently, he added. — Bernama

A glance at the list, there are some areas where the Lancer Inspired (keyless entry, leather, full body kit, etc.), assets with a number of bits that give a more upscale atmosphere in Mitsubishi, whose premium is more than the proton. Other than that, they are more likely similar.Engine wise, they both using the same 2.0-liter DOHC 4B11 come with an automatic CVT INVECS-III. Mitsubishi Proton reject any modification of this engine, so both Inspiring and Lancer GT have the same heart generate the same amount of energy, and exactly the same charateristics engine. The only difference is, improved air ducts for the transmission oil cooler on Inspire. No other here.Handling comments. This is an area where I would like to discuss. The Mitsubishi Lancer GT is known to have a happy tail when driven hard. Mitsubishi Proton allowed 11 hours to the behavior of the recovery Inspired.

Used with the experience of working with Lotus, Proton examination of the parameters of the absorption and spring and suspension bushes. I have attached Wear, Neo, Gen2 and Persona and are very impressed with the ride and handling of the proton cars very neutral corners and a continental feel in terms of roles and handling on rough terrain has. So there should be no doubt that proton in a position that is already good handling Lancer fixed. Finally, price increase. The Mitsubishi Lancer 2. ogtt sold at RM120, 598.10 (uninsured). Proton Inspira 2.0 CVT sold contrast to RM91, 9. This is a difference of rM28, 59.10; almost RM30k.If we do not know the difference brand names sold Proton/service below average and whether proton able Mitsubishi match in terms of quality inside and out, this seems to be a very good buy. Rm30000 is a fairly large sum money.I say that Inspired at least RM70K expensive (think of the obscene Gov proton is entitled to tax benefits, saving much cheaper local logistical arrangements, research and development of these rebadging exercise, etc.). This is just my own assessment Inspired.
